Prevent "Dysfunctional Momentum" with Valuta

The MIT Sloan Management Review article "Learning When to Stop Momentum", presents a compelling case for Valuta's business interventions.  In fact, while making the case for 'active interruptions' in complex projects, MIT SMR describes a series of characteristics needed to prevent a project avoiding potential disaster.  An operational evaluation by Valuta, particularly in times of stress, allows you to re-consider the case for action, taking into account any environmental changes that may impact the original plan.

The MIT SMR article suggest that in order to overcome 'dysfunctional momentum', we need to demonstrate four characteristics:
  1. Develop a culture that allows people to voice concerns.
  2. Be skeptical of experts - the same culture that allows people to voice concerns also supports 'junior' team members challenging more senior or more experienced members.
  3. Seek diverse perspectives.
  4. Make sure leaders are available or accessible.
